Advanced Off-Leash Obedience Training
This is also known as off-leash voice control. This course builds on the ultimate relationship between you and your dog. In off-leash voice obedience training you will learn how to control your dog without the need of a leash, giving your dog the exercise it needs with the confidence it will come back to you when prompted.
Basic On-Leash Obedience to Advanced Off-Leash Obedience Training Series
(includes a $100 discount)
This dog training program series develops the leader-follower relationship that is critical for you and your dog’s relationship. This makes your dog’s life much easier. After both owner and dog have successfully completed basic on-leash obedience training, off-leash voice obedience training teaches your dog to respond to you without the need of a leash. This provides your dog with the exercise and physical fitness activity it needs.
Behavior Modification
Behavior modification is the systematic approach to changing behavior. Unlike dog obedience training, which is for training a dog to perform specific actions when asked, behavior modification looks to change a dog’s reaction to a situation (with people, other animals, etc).
Behavior modification entails modifying a dog’s behavior for the purpose of increasing or decreasing the behavior of interest. For example, getting your dog to sit faster, or getting your dog to stop growling at people as they are coming into your house.
One way to modify behavior is by using positive reinforcement. This method tends to work quickly and is my preferred method to modify a behavior. Positive reinforcement involves offering a reward for positive behaviors to encourage your dog to keep doing them.
Senior Dog Training
As the saying goes, “you can teach an old dog new tricks”. Senior dogs are considered to be 7 years of age or older. Before starting a senior dog training program, it is critical we first understand their physical limitations, such as joint pain or muscle pain, arthritis, hip dysplasia, or obesity. These are some of the common medical conditions that can interfere with older dog and senior dog training. Common issues with older dogs can include acting old, increased sleep during the day, altered interactions with family members, loss of house training skills, a decreased ability to recognize familiar people and surroundings, or a decreased desire to engage in favorite routines and activities such as walking. Changing behaviors that your dog has been doing for years will be a greater challenge than simply teaching new behaviors. There is overwhelming evidence that dogs that are trained in a positive method are willing to keep learning. The more consistent you are about training regularly with your dog, the easier it is for your dog to learn and undo negative behaviors.
In-Home Dog Training
Private in-home training is superior to other training programs such as group classes or board-and-train because it incorporates you as the owner from the very beginning. I work with you to customize a dog or puppy training program right in the comfort of your home.
Lifetime Training Support
Training you how to train your dog is a crucial element of your dog’s training. Even the strongest of “owners-trainers” need support from time to time. Knowing that you have me to support you over the life of your dog is a reassuring asset.
Basic On-Leash Obedience Training
Basic On-Leash Obedience training provides dogs that are 16 weeks of age or older with the skills they need to successfully interact with their owner on-leash. It is loose leash walking with engagement (dog must check in). This technique is much more relaxing for you and your dog and it provides your dog with a sense of safety. You will learn the following commands to establish a dog-owner communication system by.
- Sit and sit-stay This important behavior will teach your dog how to control itself when it gets over excited in and around your home.
- Come This behavior will teach your dog to come to you, and may save your dog’s life one day!
- Down and down-stay This behavior will enable you put your dog into an extended stay position and to go to a calm state.
- All unwanted behaviors will be addressed in this course.
